We are looking for an experienced Rigger for our Fittershop - Engineering to contribute to the efficient assembly and installation of marine equipment and structures by specializing in the precise and safe positioning of heavy machinery, components, and ship modules using a variety of rigging techniques and equipment.
- Reporting to: Fittershop Foreman
- Department: Engineering Workshop
- Location: South Arm Road, V&A Waterfront
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Demonstrate high quality rigging work
- Operate workshop machinery correctly as per safety regulation
- Ability to shift engines
- Must be able to use chain blocks up to 5 tons
- Must know the sizes of all slings and shackles
- Safely operate and maintain company equipment
- Raise and follow up all corrective action concerning deficiencies during maintenance of installation and production projects.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment when rigging.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Red Seal qualification
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Marine rigging advantageous
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES
- Ability to assess each job and select the correct equipment.
- Ability to work in high-pressure environment
- Must be punctual and reliable, positive attitude
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends.
- Work well in a team and follow instructions
- Practice good safety and hygiene standards
