An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified, experienced, and energetic Processing Manager to join Sea Harvest Corporation in Saldanha Bay on the West Coast. This role is based in the Added Value Department, where the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing Added Value production operations. The Sea Harvest Group is a leading vertically integrated seafood, Agri-processing, and branded fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) business with a global footprint. POSITION: AV PROCESSING MANAGER
REPORTING TO: AV FACTORY MANAGER
PURPOSE: The AV Processing Manager is responsible for managing and executing Added Value production operations to achieve optimal utilization of raw material, ingredients, labour, equipment and facilities. Ensuring production targets, quality standards, food safety, and health and safety requirements are consistently met while driving continuous improvement, cost control and team performance.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT & PRODUCTION EXECUTION
- Deliver production volumes and yield in line with or exceeding budgeted targets.
- Achieve 98%adherence to the production plan.
- Plan and balance daily production requirements, labour, machinery and freezer capacity.
- Ensure optimal utilization of fish, ingredients, equipment, and labour.
- Monitor ingredient pick-ups against standard specifications to control costs.
- Manage SIC (in-process controls) with hourly monitoring and corrective action where required.
- Monitor production performance continuously and adjust plans to meet operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable SOPs.
- Ensure strict adherence to HACCP, Quality SOPs, QMS and Food Safety standards.
- Ensure final products meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping in line with HACCP and customer requirements.
- Achieve 100% compliance in all AV factory external audits.
- Ensure quality control systems are maintained and adhered to at all times.
- Maintain financial discipline across processing operations, including yields, waste, ingredient pick-ups, and labour.
- Reduce and eliminate non-value adding activities and processes.
- Ensure adherence to production budgets and cost targets.
- Control overtime, protective clothing usage, and laundry costs.
- Enforce Health and Safety policies, procedures and safe working environment.
- Ensure staff attendance at Health and Safety meetings.
- Promote a safe, clean, and well-organized working environment.
- Ensure safe use of equipment and machinery at all times.
- Ensure the company vision and business direction are understood and embraced at all levels.
- Lead, motivate and develop teams to achieve operational and business objectives.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide recognition were due.
- Ensure competent and skilled employees are in place for critical roles.
- Drive continuous improvement through team engagement, innovation, and improved work methods.
- Manage employee relations, including grievances, counselling, and disciplinary action in line with labour legislation (LRA, BCEA) etc.
- Relevant Tertiary qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years operational managerial and processing experience within an FMCG environment.
- Logical and systematic problem-solving ability.
